Grasshopper Youth Soccer

Our grasshopper soccer program is designed for 4 year olds and young 5 year olds, typically in pre-school or the early stages of kindergarten. This soccer program welcomes both boys and girls in a co-ed environment that fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and fundamental soccer skills. Through this balanced approach of instruction and game play, the grasshoppers program aims to ignite a love for the beautiful game of soccer while promoting physical fitness, coordination, and social interaction among the enthusiastic young participants.

Eligibility

To be eligible, children must turn 4 before the season starts and remain 4 or 5 years old for the entire duration of either the Spring or Fall seasons. Teams are co-ed and coached by parent volunteers.

Commitment

The program consists of 30 minute practices followed by a 30 minute game played on Saturdays at Boettler Park in Green. The cost is $70. Financial aid is available, please contact us about qualifying. Rosters will be posted online a few weeks before the season begins.

Equipment Needed

size 3 soccer ball (any brand)
shin-guards
water bottle
sneakers (cleats optional)
GSA will provide a t-shirt that will be worn at all practices/games

Coaches Needed

Volunteering as a coach is a rewarding way to support your child’s participation in soccer while also helping other young players learn the fundamentals of the game and develop a lifelong love of the sport. No prior coaching experience is necessary! The league will provide you with a comprehensive coaching manual that covers all the key concepts and techniques to teach your team as well as a training session to prepare you for a successful season on the sidelines. As an added bonus, coaches will be reimbursed for their child’s playing fee as a token of appreciation for volunteering their time and energy. Please indicate in the registration process if you are interested in coaching.
